India’s Contribution to Greenhouse Gas Emission from Freshwater Ecosystems: A Comprehensive Review

چکیده

In the modern era, due to urbanization, industrialization, and anthropogenic activities in catchment, greenhouse gas (GHG; CO2, CH4, N2O) emissions from freshwater ecosystems received scientific attention because of global warming future climate impacts. A developing country such as India contributes a huge share (4% global) GHGs its (e.g., rivers, lakes, reservoirs) atmosphere. This is first comprehensive review dealing with GHG Indian bodies. Literature reveals that majority emitted inland water, 19% CH4 flux 56% CO2 flux. large part India’s gross domestic product (GDP) manipulated by rivers. As matter fact, 117.8 Tg year?1 released major riverine waters. The potential hydropower reservoirs varies between 11–52.9% (mainly CO2) spatio-temporal variability emissions. significant contribution was also reported urban wetlands, other Being subtropical country, one hotspots, having highest ratio (GHG: GDP) 1301.79. However, portion has not been considered yet, there need account for precise regional carbon budgets. Therefore, this review, bodies, drivers behind pH, mean depth, dissolved oxygen, nutrients), long-term climatic risks are thoroughly reviewed. Besides research gaps, directions mitigation measures being suggested provide useful insight into dynamics (sink/source) control

Modeling of Greenhouse Gas Emission from Livestock

The effects of climate change on humans and other living ecosystems is an area of on-going research. The ruminant livestock sector is considered to be one of the most significant contributors to the existing greenhouse gas (GHG) pool. However, there are opportunities to combat climate change by reducing the emission of GHGs from ruminants. Methane (CH4) and nitrous oxide (N2O) are emitted by ru...

The greenhouse gas value of ecosystems

As society faces the urgent need to mitigate climate change, it is critical to understand how various ecosystems contribute to the climate, and to express these contributions in terms that are meaningful to policymakers, economists, land managers, and other nonscience interest holders. Efforts to mitigate climate change call for quantification of the full greenhouse gas (GHG) effects of land us...

Estimating greenhouse gas emissions using emission factors from the Sugarcane Development Company, Ahvaz, Iran

Background: Greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions are increasing worldwide. They have harmful effects on human health, animals, and plants and play a major role in global warming and acid rain. Methods: This research investigated carbon dioxide (CO2) and CH4 emissions obtained from different parts of the Hakim Farabi, Dobal Khazaei, and Ramin factories which produce ethanol and yeast. Seasonal rates ...
